Your First Week of Household Preparedness in the Philippines
A seven-day planning guide for Philippine rentals and households: local warnings, utilities, contacts, go bags, and a printable household plan.
Use this anywhere in the Philippines.
This is for a household settling into a rental, apartment, condo, or house. Use your own city, barangay, building, transport, and utility details. It also works as a review for long-term residents.
Day 1: Learn your exact location
Record the barangay, city or municipality, and province. Ask your landlord or building manager for the address format, emergency contact, exits, and how official notices reach residents. Mindanao is a starting region, not one uniform risk zone.
Day 2: Find your warning sources
Bookmark PAGASA and PHIVOLCS. Use HazardHunterPH to explore your location, noting data limitations. Ask the barangay or city/municipal disaster office which local notices, routes, and designated evacuation centers apply.
Day 3: Map the building’s dependencies
Ask which circuits, elevators, pumps, and common areas have backup power, who supplies your water, and how interruptions are announced. Use the brownout calculator for your equipment list; verify exact device requirements.
Day 4: Inventory essentials before buying
List what your household already has and what each person needs. Separate drinking water, food preparation, hygiene, and toilet needs. Use the water-interruption guide and household-specific medical advice.
Day 5: Pack a carryable go bag
Use the companion checklist. Assign a carrier for each bag and plan assistance, children, pets, and service animals. Adapt it to the journey and local instructions; do not delay a required evacuation to complete it.
Day 6: Write the household arrangements
Complete contacts, meeting places, transport, destination, check-in times, and the official warning or condition that starts action. The free plan builder now includes Philippine areas and printable personal fields.
Day 7: Try one safe practice and review
Find the contact card and bags, explain the meeting arrangements, and note a change. Schedule the next review. Once you are living locally, replace assumptions with verified building and community information.
Keep one useful record.
Open the free household plan builder and choose Mindanao, Visayas, or Luzon. Fill in the optional private fields and print/save the result before closing the tab.
